Just like with most other people, I love using personal mobility devices. Now, I know that’s kind of a mouthful. I know that’s kind of a fancy way of saying “skateboard” or “scooter” or “bike.”
But you have to really think of those items in those terms because when you are on a personal mobility platform, there is a control set. There is a control mechanism, and there is an operation process. This way, you can size up these different personal transport options in a logical way.
Well, since we’re talking about logic and we’re talking about making risk benefit analysis calculations among different personal mobility platforms, let me tell you a thing or two about the kind of Swegway UK fans love riding.
Swegway has really captured a lot of people’s imaginations. It’s really easy to see why. Because ever since the movie Back to the Future, a lot of people have fantasized about a hoverboard. In particular, not more than a few teenagers and not so teenaged year adult have thought about getting on top of a board or plank that promptly takes off at a high rate of speed once they land on the platform.
Can you imagine having a personal mobility device that you just jump on and it would zip through the air a few feet off the ground as you weave and duck all the way through town? It’s kind of like Michael J. Fox’s character in Back to the Future.
Well, we kind of have something like that now. It’s called the hoverboard.
The Swegway hoverboard stands a few inches off the ground, but it’s powered by wheels. We still don’t have the technology where people do not have to use wheels to ride around in some sort of airborne surfboard or skateboard, but we’re getting there.
The Swegway is a lot of fun because you are a few inches above the ground and you can move things around because it’s self powered.
But here’s the thing, if you’re learning your way around this device, it’s very easy to spill. “Spill,” of course, is skateboard talk for hurting yourself because you fell off the personal mobility device.
This is why it’s a good idea to use proper gear. I’m talking about all sorts of padding as well as a helmet.
If you think that makes you look stupid or it makes you look foolish, then you need to do the second best thing, which is to make sure that you are properly insured. Because let me tell you, hospital bills, when you break bones, can be quite expensive.
Make sure you are properly protected as you have fun on your Swegway.
